Email Client Setup Guide

Connect your MailAfiniti email account to any email client using standard IMAP and SMTP settings. This guide covers Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, and mobile devices.

Server Settings

Use these settings in any email client:

Outlook (Windows & Mac)

1. Open Outlook and go to File → Add Account
2. Enter your full email address and click Connect
3. Select IMAP when prompted for account type
4. Enter the incoming server: imap.mailafiniti.com (port 993, SSL)
5. Enter the outgoing server: smtp.mailafiniti.com (port 587, STARTTLS)
6. Enter your password and click Connect
7. Click Done — your emails will begin syncing

Apple Mail (Mac)

1. Open Mail and go to Mail → Add Account
2. Choose Other Mail Account and click Continue
3. Enter your name, full email address, and password, then click Sign In
4. If auto-setup fails, manually enter:
   • Incoming: imap.mailafiniti.com, port 993, SSL
   • Outgoing: smtp.mailafiniti.com, port 587, STARTTLS
5. Select the apps to use (Mail, Notes) and click Done

Thunderbird

1. Open Thunderbird and go to File → New → Existing Mail Account
2. Enter your name, email address, and password
3. Click Configure Manually if auto-detection doesn't work
4. Set incoming to IMAP: imap.mailafiniti.com, port 993, SSL/TLS
5. Set outgoing to SMTP: smtp.mailafiniti.com, port 587, STARTTLS
6. Click Re-test then Done

iPhone / iPad (iOS Mail)

1. Go to Settings → Mail → Accounts → Add Account
2. Tap Other → Add Mail Account
3. Enter your name, email address, password, and a description
4. Tap Next — iOS will attempt auto-configuration
5. If needed, manually set:
   • IMAP Host: imap.mailafiniti.com, port 993
   • SMTP Host: smtp.mailafiniti.com, port 587
6. Tap Save

Android (Gmail App)

1. Open the Gmail app and tap your profile photo → Add another account
2. Choose Other
3. Enter your full email address and tap Manual setup
4. Select Personal (IMAP)
5. Enter your password
6. Incoming server: imap.mailafiniti.com, security: SSL/TLS, port 993
7. Outgoing server: smtp.mailafiniti.com, security: STARTTLS, port 587
8. Follow the prompts to complete setup

Troubleshooting

Authentication errors: Make sure you're using your full email address as the username (e.g. name@yourdomain.com), not just the local part.

Can't send email: Verify SMTP port is 587 with STARTTLS (not SSL). Some networks block port 465.

Emails not syncing: Check that IMAP is enabled — log in to the MailAfiniti dashboard and confirm IMAP access is turned on under account settings.

SSL certificate warnings: Ensure your email client trusts the server certificate. Accepting it once is usually sufficient.
